Mainstream anthropologists with their darwinian timeline say that the western hemisphere was inhabited by tribes which had crossed the Bering Land Bridge (exposed during the Ice Age) about thirty thousand years ago, spread all the way south to the tip of South America, fifteen thousand years ago, so logically, many settlements in Central America for twenty-five  thousand years or so there until the Olmecs built the huge statues with african features, those twenty-five thousand years of settlements which to their consternation are not there to be found, and why do those Olmec head statues show african features when transoceanic travel, ostensibly for the first Africans to have entered the Americas, supposedly didn’t occur until slave trading?

Hats off to (the now deceased) Barry Fell of Harvard who really pioneered the notion of ancient difussionism, the settlement of the earth’s landmasses by sea, ‘though he wouldn’t say settled, but visited and integrated, as Fell, I think still held to the darwinian timeline, but with the correct idea that bronze age navigators, which actually was during the Ice Age, the Phoenicians, Shang, Atlanteans, Egyptians, Ionians, Indus Valley people, all having the capability to navigate across the oceans of the world, and safely return, with the method explained in article #2 at http://IceAgeCivilizations.com, not what you’ll learn at Harvard these days, so I hope you refer your favorite academic to the mapping finding, it explains alot when you think it all through, certainly solid science.
