Scientists are almost all in agreement that the Black Sea basin was a vast inland sea, connected to the lower world ocean during the Ice Age by the River Rhode (reference Pliny) which flowed down through what now is the Bosporus and Dardanelles Strait, as the world ocean has since risen to enter and flood the Black Sea basin, with about a third of the land around the old Black Sea now underwater, as the Black Sea now is connected to the world ocean, submerged rapidly according to the experts, with a clear paleoshoreline, known as the Cimmerian shoreline by Russian scientists, revealing rapid transition from a low energy freshwater environment to a high energy saltwater regime, proven with the paleo plant and animal debris evidence found associated with the respective sedimentary layer-series on the Black Sea floor.

This now submerged paleo-shorelines’ depth under sea level varies from 85 meters down to 115 meters, because there was extensive block faulting due to the added weight when the then-rising world ocean broke through and poured into the old Black Sea basin, pushing down on the bottom, causing it to break downward in varying degrees around the Black Sea basin, reflected in the geology of the mountain ranges rimming the Black Sea basin.

The big question is when did this flooding occur?  Mainstream scientists say it was circa 6000 B.C., but that was long after their time for the end of the Ice Age at 10000 B.C., and so, with many ancient legends speaking of a rapid sea level rise, in a matter of decades, such as the legendary flood of the time of greek king Ogyges, considered to have lived circa 1500 B.C., and the flood of greek king Dardanus’ time, also from that circa 1500 B.C., according to ancient greek historians.

It’s pretty clear that this was the time when the world ocean rose to submerge low elevation greek cities (with many megalithic ruins now found submerged off Greece), rising up the river valley which now is the Bosporus and Dardanelles, to then pour into the Black Sea, filling it substantially, with then the block faulting, followed by about 10 meters more of infilling by the world ocean, which finished its rise by around 1400 B.C., the time that Troy was established as a major trading center on the Strait which then connected the Black Sea to the world ocean.

Renowned academics Robert Ballard and William Ryan have confirmed bronze age ruins (of wooden housing of small towns), there on the paleoshoreline in the Black Sea, giving meaning to the Russian term for the shoreline, Cimmerian, as they too suspect those settlments from the time of those people, also known as the Gimmera by the ancient Assyrians, and the Gomera by others, the Gomer of the Table of Nations (Genesis 10) in the Bible, corroborating that the sea level rise at the end of the Ice Age was circa 1500 B.C.

Many other ancient cultures confirm that sea level rise (such as of Kumari Kandam), with their ruins now submerged offshore on the seafloor in many locations around the world (see category Submerged Ancient Ruins), even of the Atlantean empire, the flood described by Plato, the date of which was mistaken, as that too was the flood of the time of Dardanus and Ogyges.  Learn much more about all this in the 2006 documentary Dark Secrets of the Black Sea, with myself, William Ryan, Sergei Golovin, and other experts from that region.  Certainly see too http://genesisveracityfoundation.com.
