Ancient traditions from the Middle East tell about the global flood which covered the earth, reported by the babylonian historian Berosus, and described in the sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh, and in the Bible, as well as, later in the Koran, and all those legends say that the vessel (Noah’s Ark) settled in the mountains north of Mesopotamia, where Turkey, Iran, and Azerberjan come together, where are the biblical mountains of Ararat, in extreme eastern Turkey, so were all the ancient writers and traditional storytellers just making all that up, or is the legend of the global Deluge real history, and so, the evidence is there to back it up?
Yes indeed, the evidence for the global Flood is plentiful, with John Baumgardner, who for many years was a leading scientist at Los Alamos Laboratories, having a computer program simulating the runaway plate tectonics during the year of Noah’s Flood, showing the rapid oceanic plate separations at the fissures between them which produced most of the water and magma from below, for most of the water of the Deluge (as compressed magma at depth contains up to 80% water by weight), and the magma for the new basaltic oceanic crustal material which infilled where the oceanic plates were separating.
Such runaway plate tectonism is more plausible to the novice when it’s considered that the crust of the earth, above the semi-molten mantle, is like the skin on an apple, relatively very thin, so with a large cosmic impact, it’s easily conceivable that crustal plates would be induced to subduct rapidly where oceanic plates slope under continental plates, causing the oceanic crustal plates to separate rapidly too, when the supercontinent Pangea, which was the pre-Flood world, separated to continental configurations which we see today.
With the pre Deluge supercontinent Pangea having had relatively low elevations, the water produced through the midoceanic rift zones during the Flood year, some of which shot into the atmosphere to fall out as the forty days and nights of rain until the waters had risen, was plenty to have covered that pre-Flood supercontinent, depositing vast layers of sediments, entombing creatures, upon the then rapidly separating supercontinent. And so, the great mountain ranges of our present earth rose at the close of the Deluge, because of forces wrent during the runaway plate tectonics, as oceanic crust dove under the continents to heat at depth, to rise as plutonic mountains, such as the Sierra Nevada’s, and as some continents crashed into others, raising mountain ranges such as the Himalayas, composed of upthrusted sedimentary layers deposited in Noah’s Flood, real history.
At the close of the Deluge, the ocean basins sank because the new basaltic oceanic crust had cooled, to then sink down upon the mantle below, deepening the post Deluge ocean basins, into which the water of the Deluge ran off, off the continents as they thickened, because of the deposition of sediments, entombing billions of creatures in the process, and because of displaced mantle material from under the deepening ocean basins which migrated to then push up against the continental plates; the continents rose while the ocean basins sank at the close of the Deluge indicated in over 600 ancient tribal legends.
Refer to the free ebook download of my first book, Old Earth? Why Not!, for more details about Noah’s Flood, and be sure to checkout John Baumgardner’s excellent website http://GlobalFlood.org, to know that the evidence does indeed corroborate the Genesis account of our ancient history, not what is taught in the colleges and universities, but should be, at least as a very viable alternative to the darwinian/lyellian scheme for our earth’s history. And please do certainly read on under category Catastrophic Climate Change, to see that only paradoxically warmer oceans, from the aftermath of Noah’s Flood, could have provided the energy for the engine of the Ice Age.
