Top Texas Hoop Prospects Cody Doolin and Connor Kemper Lead Westlake High School 2008-2009 Chaparral Men’s Basketball Team has High Hopes for Clarke Allan 6′ 7″ Senior has Developed Scoring Threat Inside and Outside for Balanced Chaparral Attack Center Gus Leeper is Wildcard for Great Westlake Chaparral Basketball Squad

The 2008-2009 edition of the Austin Westlake High School Chaparral’s men’s basketball team is blessed with some very good talent in 6′ 7″ speedster jumping-jack Connor Kemper, who is learning to fill it up on offense, and 6′ 0″ junior point guard Cody Doolin, who has the foot speed to guard the quickest athletes, and can penetrate on offense with the best of them, to score or dish to Kemper or the fast emerging Clarke Allan, 6′ 7″ senior who really hit the weights this summer, and scored with a high degree of shooting efficiency both in the paint and on the perimeter in the 2008 summer league games in Austin.

And with 6′ 9″ junior Gus Leeper having much yet unfulfilled potential at the center position, the Chaparrals’ starting lineup could be big and potent on the offensive end, with Leeper, Allan, and Kemper crashing the boards for follow shots, and with high level shot blocking on the defensive end, should Gus Leeper successfully develop his unrealized and considerable talent in workouts this fall, which is the job of new head coach Tres Ellis, who inherited a very talented roster, certain to blossom should Gus come through as their shot-blocking big man, freeing up Kemper and Allan to do their thing at the forward positions, assisted by the cat-quick Doolin at point guard.
