Atlantis Empire included Tarshish (Tartessos) of Phoenicians who Settled with Sons of Javan (Iawan) in Rio Tinto Mining District of Plato’s Atlantis

Plato described the City of Posidon, within three concentric ship canals, as having been five nautical miles from the seacoast.  To the north of the city was a mountain range which protected the realm from the north winds, as described by Plato, and in those mountains Plato said the rich Atlanteans mined their metallic ores to be refined and exported to various ports of the world, mostly to the ports of the eastern Mediterranean, to the Greeks, Canaanites, Egyptians, and Minoans.

Ancient megalithic ruins have been discovered in the mineral rich Sierra Morena Mountains of southern Spain at Niebla, Seville, Ronda, and other locations, which traditionally have been attributed to the Phoenicians of Bronze Age times (circa 2000 B.C.), who mined prodigious deposits of gold, silver, copper, tin, and iron, along the Rio Tinto River, to be processed and marketed to the other Bronze Age civilizations.

The Roman name of what would be called Seville, Spain, was Tartessos, and before the Romans came along, it was known as Tharsis, the Tarshish of the Bible, a great grandson of Noah through Japheth.  Tarshish is the earliest known name in the region, and so, attributable to the earliest settlers there, who apparently joined forces with the Sidonians of “Po” Sidon, a son of Canaan, a son of Ham, to exploit the fantastically rich ore deposits of southern Spain, the lifeblood of the Atlantean Empire.

And as Atlas, a son of Posidon (Sidon), helped build early Tharsis, according to ancient Spanish legend, we see that the Hamites and Japhethites were both involved in the development of Atlantis, the Atlas Mountains on the other side of Gibraltar being also a namesake of Atlas, the Map Man.

Tarshish was a son of Javan (a son of Japheth), and the Greek name for Javan was Iawan, the namesake of the Ionian Greeks, so we see that early Greek stock helped in the establishment of Atlantis, within a few centuries after the Deluge.  Note too that the Greek Pelasgians, named after Peleg, great seafarers, were from the line of Shem, the fourth male on Noah’s Ark, so they no doubt played a role in early Atlantis too, along with another from Shem’s line, Eber, the namesake of Iberia (Spain) and the Iber River of southern Spain, known today as the Rio Tinto, the richest mining area in ancient days.  See
