The new movie “10,000 B.C.” rightly portrays that megalithic building projects were ongoing during the Ice Age, presumably in Egypt, as portrayed in the movie, but because the producers say the setting was circa 10000 B.C., the movie is a fanstasy, because the great ancient megalithic building projects are known to have happened during the Bronze Age, in the 2500 B.C. to 1500 B.C. timeframe, not 7,000 years before then as portrayed in the movie.
I’ve been reading some preliminary reviews of the trailers for the movie, and afrocentrists are up in arms that the megalithic builders are white, along with the hunter gatherers from the north who oppose the megalithic builders in presumably Old Kingdom Egypt (which certainly did not begin circa 10000 B.C.) The movie and the afrocentrists both have it wrong, the ancient world had all “races” of people, and combinations of them, many of whom were precisely navigating to and settling disparate parts of the globe, and ancient Egyptian evidence indicates there were all the “races” in ancient Egypt too, not just black, and not just white, all members of the human syngameon, the human kind in biblical parlance.
